Just completed a CD, Closure, and uploaded the title track to nowhere radio: http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=3180&alid=-1. There is a bonus point for naming the REM track I borrowed the military drum beat idea from. All comments welcome as ever. I'll have a website up shortly to promote the 11-track CD.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Cardiff Jon aka jonlenin aka n'boyd.

Have I said something wrong? I've never had nil replies since I used the word 'reggae' in a title.

song is ok. there is kind of a lack of dynamics. the drums (is that a drum machine) seem to be really compressed or just mixed too low. i think a better snare would add some dynamics. the right speaker distorted guitar part kind of muddies things up and i would back off on the chorus effect on the clean guitar. the vocals sound a little too like they are hanging over the song than part of the mix. maybe just lower the volume on them. cant really hear the bass part that much maybe because it sounds like there might be some kind of reverb on that too. overall pretty cool though.

I like it

I listened to your song twice in the last couple of days...I can only hear it lo-fi...I am trying to sign-up so I can download it and enjoy it in clear stereo... It is one of the best (in my opinion) songs I have found out here in the desert of the Internet...there is a haggard and dry feel to the song, but I think that fits (it is about a haggard and dry relationship)...I am immediatly drawn in by the song and am not anxious to pick it apart...at this point the only criticism I have is that the guitar break was an oportunity to "nail the coffin shut", that is, I think it was an opertunity to elicit more emotion...perhaps it is too "active" (too many notes?) and bright in comparison to the rest of the song.

Many thanks for comments. I don't really aspire to be an engineer (or a musician!), so it's the song reviews that matter most to me. However, all criticism is noted. It certainly is a drum machine, 47r (only have to hammer in the instructions once, etc), and I didn't want the drums to dominate, just be there. There is actually no chorus effect - just a 12-string through a mike, double tracked. Agree the bass could be clearer (especially because it's a good riff!) Not sure I agree about the vocals - they seem right to me.
Guitar solo deficiency maybe due to fact I am a deficient guitarist, Mawt, but I really appreciate you get the song. I've written hundreds over the years, but this to me has something extra. Want to order the CD when I get the website up? It will be www.nboyd.net when Waldo from NWR finishes it. Send us a PM if you like and I'll listen to some of your stuff.
Cheers
Cardiff Jon
