Mic Wars and The Phantom Power Menace

Ok, so I am about to buy a mic...

What is this talk of 'phantom power'? I thought I just needed a pre-amp, but am I wrong on this? Or do all pre-amps come with this feature? If not, how do I get 'Phantom power'?

Most preamps come with phantom power. Some might not have it. Then you need a seperate phantom power source to provide it.

Not all mics need phantom power... Condensors do...
