Where do you guys prefer to store your mics? Elaborate if you need to.

-Edit-
Oh yeah, I store mine wherever I can, they're typically in the case or on the stnd but when they're not there they can be found chilling a shelf or something...

I ask this because I wonder what your proverbial "Mic Locker" is.

I voted for the case it came in but I also put in one of those silica pacs. I dunno if I'm over doing it but I've never had any problems...(except for them reeking of my bad breath... :D )

Where do you get silica packets? I can only find it in bulk.

What do the silica packs do? I've always wondered about them used in shoe boxes too.

They suck up moisture....

I just have my friends save em when they buy something that has em. Lotsa different items will.

Every few months I'll take em all, put em on a cookie sheet in the oven on warm for about a half hour...

Peace...........

There was a bunch of talk about silica packs in another thread, and obviously, people asked "where do you get them?" Well, I don't use them, but you could just go to wal-mart and look in there shoes, each box should have one, just go through like 10 shoes and get 'em. Hell, if the baby shoes have them take those, they won't need 'em...or would that be stealing? It just seems like they're so small and cheap it wouldn't matter.

I keep mine in a rubermaid container with a lid on it. Usually the mics are in their cases inside the bucket, but if I'm low on room and moving them I'll usually double or triple them inside shure-type mic bags. Condensors I always keep in foam or in their original cases. I figure my dynamics are durable but the condesors need to be 'babied' a bit.

I keep some in the wooden box my Electro-Harmonix pre came in, along with this moisture absorber that you buy to hang in your closet. Works really well for me, if I've got a mic that's spitting and crackling, I'll send it there as punishment... "Go to your box, dammit!"

I keep all my mics in their stock cases or "bags", but store them all in a handy-dandy footlocker. I have modded it with small companrtments and foam to safley house the mics. It's the same footlocker I took to summer camp all those years ago... it's sentimental.
