mic stands

I'm sure you've had this before, but... I have some 30 yr old Atlas mic stands that are starting to wear & are inconvenient to place. A lot of what I see in catalogs now looks flimsy! Any favorite brands you guys use for a home studio? I need stability & ease of fine tuning the mic placement. thanks
 
I have 24 Onstage mic booms. You're right about flimsy. On the other hand, they're versatile as the dickens and I can move them easily as part of my mobile rig. You get what you pay for, I expect.
 
AKG and K&M offer fine German engineering.;) K&M is marketed by Ultimate in the states.

You're right - a lot of what you see in the catalogs IS flimsy. The only stands I expect to last 30 years are my heavier ones. But, if you're just using them for recording and not for live gigs, the flimsy ones should do fine.

I've worked in a Church for 5 years. Get some Ultimate stackable stands. We've used them 3 times a week for 5 years, no probs!

update

I looked at someof the stands you suggested & realized what i mostly need is the boom attachment. My weighted stands are OK except the adjustable height part doesn't swivle easily any more - i have to turn the entire base of the stand & that gets to be awkward...
 
I pretty sure K&M stands will replace any part of the stand if it breaks or fails. This is unlike alot of other stands that if something goes on it, that part can't be replaced. The Muzac Stop in Sydney uses all K&M stands in their rental department.

I was told I can get a K&M stand for around $50 CDN.
