Now that would be nuts. How could such a thing even exist?

Those already exist. Digitech makes a bunch of them.

He was kidding. He already has one of those. I know; I sold it to him.

Roland has these mic simulators you speak of in their VSFX cards. They are designed to be used with their mic.
