I HATE TO ASK ?'S THAT HAVE PROBALY BEEN ASKED NUMEROUS TIMES BUT I NEW TO THE BIZ AND IM CURIOUS AS TO WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN PURCHASING A MIC. IM NEEDING THEM FOR MY HOMESTUDIO AND IM NOT WANTING TO BREAK THE BANK. I NEED FOUR MICS AND IM USING THEM FOR R&B AND RAP MUSIC. ANY AND ALL FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS

i would recommend a mic or two...but i might get my head bitten off with the current trend. use the search function, look up posts by a man named harvey gerst...harvey rocks!

If you want recomendations you'll need to tell us your budget and specific application ie. vocals, drums, etc.

MORE INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my budget is minimal at this point. probaly can afford about $400-$500 on a total of 3-4 mics. i guess i looking for one good lead vocal mike and the rest will be background. the music will be mostly r&b and some rap. also what type of mic stands would you recomment.

thanks

1x Marshall V67 G - 130$
3x Shure SM57 - 237$
total = $367

What a wonderful world!

Of course, you need 4 mic preamps...
1x Mackie 1202 VLZ PRO - $400 new, $300 on eBay...

would i be able to run them thru my delta 1010 soundcard or will i still need the pre-amp??

any suggestions would be appreciated

im trying to only buy once so if i need to pay more for the mics then the feedback would be appreciated

From what I gather from the madio website, there are no mic preamps built into the delta 1010, so, yes, you will need to get some sort of mic preamplification (either an outboard mic preamp or a mixer). I've heard good things about the Soundmaster Spirit mixers, and they're just a tad more expensive than the mackies.
