mic question

Yo Mitch the Music Man:

I might guess that the Boss recorder has a mic pre for at least one channel? If so, it will be so-so depending on the quality.

The other box you mentioned, I'm not familiar with it; however, if it has mic-line in pres, they, too, may be so-so.

So, why do they make exotic mic pres? To give a better signal and warmth and sound and elation to the person recording.

Just look at outboard mic pres....from a couple of hundred pezzutos to eight, nine hundred and upwards into the thousands.

So, is a VW the same quality as a Mercedes? Well, in some respects maybe -- however, in the large yard -- NO!

So, you'll have to look, try, listen, evaluate, and decide.

Green Hornet:D :p

as Green Horny somewhat said, you dont NEED a preamp.......the Behringer will work as a preamp and if the Boss unit has phantom power???? it can work also.....

but using either of those on a MLT103, or was it a LTM103, is a BIG mismatch....id get at least a Joe meek or a VTB-1 for that dude......if ya have the $$$ a Grace 101........

thanks

Green - where can I pick up this gear locally? Firehouse and the like don't carry this stuff. Guitar Center might (?) or should I try the vast unknown of ebay?

Gidge, what exactly is a Joe Meeks? I tried a search at Sweetwater, Zzounds, 8th st., and couldn't find a match. Same for the Grace 101. Thanks!!
