Which preamp will yield me good vocal results with a Marshall V67M and a AT 3035?

The first thing that would depend on is a budget and what you consider to be good vocals. The HHB radius stuff is cool, Joemeek stuff is cool. Hell the little Mackie mixer pres are cool, and then Great River is cool....Avalon is cool. Yeah.........it depends on budget, I suppose.

The budget is $200, I can't really define good vocals, I guess just something clear with a good signal. Apush used Behringer mixer pres, Alesis 3630, and AT 3035 and the vocals are pretty good. I want the quality to sound at least this good.

For $300-400, do you know of any mic pre/compressor better than this one?

I have the Penta, and I like it. I think it's cleaner and more transparent than either my Blue Tube or my JoeMeek mq3, although that's probably to be expected. However, it's also a good stereo optical compressor, and it has a fun stereoizer effect on it. Well worth the money, IMHO.

True, although I haven't heard the DMP3. With this setup you could record in stereo, as opposed to the Penta. The Penta has only one preamp. mastermindzz, if I were you, I'd do something like this.

A very small step up, if any at all.

IMO, with most modern, cheap condensers (no offense to the V67 or the AT) the mic preamp isn't terribly important. As long as it supplies enough phantom power, is quiet enough, and doesn't botch anything else up, there are more important things to worry about. The Mackies would be good, the M-Audios somewhat better, Joe Meek more colored, etc.

Now, when you get into dynamic mics that are sensitive to loading, mic pre's begin to matter more.
