I bought the "Audio Buddy" from Midiman. It is a nice little preamp for use with guitars or mics. The real beauty of it is that it will accept 1/4 or XLR, AND it has two separate channels. Each channel has independent gain control, 1/4 inch in, XLR in and 1/4 inch out. You can get it at www.markertek.com or Guitar Center for around $85.

I bought an older 488that Dragon recommended.
It does not have XLR in's. I'm running my Pod
stereo out to line 1 and 2 which have a trim control.(preamps) I want to to also record vocals with my carvin mic at the same time. Since the Pod is tying up the only 2 inputs with a preamp, do I need to run the mic into a seperate preamp? If so, Musicians friend has one for $99, Any thoughts?
Thank you all for your help.

You could use the mono out on the POD if you really don't need a stereo signal there.

My dear Robert, simply run the POD outs to any two line ins, the output isn't mic level on that, is it?
