There used to be an interesting plugin called Antares Microphone Modeller. I was wondering if anyone has come across any newer plugins based on convolution technology? Something along the lines of Speakerphone or Altiverb, but with mic convolutions.

I'm not trying to turn an SM58 into a Neumann or anything, more like turning a Rode NT1 into a vintage 1930s mic.

I wasn't sure if this should go in mixing or mics so sorry if it's in the wrong place!

Excuse my confusion... haven't had much coffee yet this morning. I'm taking your post as... you don't have the Antares MM but you've heard of it and are wondering if there's something newer that does a better job of making One Mic sound like another Mic?

I'm posting because I have the original A.MM. I thought it was a great tool back when my Mic selection was minimal. I use to use it all the time for Kick because I didn't have a real kick. 57 to d112 in a instant... pretty cool. and 57 to 421 on guitars sometimes.
I haven't used it... in fact the last time I re-built my PC I didn't install the A.MM. and that was maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Only because my Mic selection grew and I found myself not using... kinda forgot to install it really... maybe I should check it out again :)

My thought on the A.MM... it's basically a Very Smart EQ. If your Mic selection is limited and you have a very budget setup, it's a pretty cool tool. You can do quite a bit w/ 3 or 4 57s. I think they came out w/ a newer version too.

Not sure if this is any help but good luck anyhow.

Sorry if I was a little confusing. Yeah, basically I just want to know if anyone has come across a convolution-based mic modeller plugin. Since the Antares Mic Modeller was pretty much an eq and technology has moved on so much since then. Now we have amazing convolution dynamics, acoustic spaces, speaker plugins.

We've got a fairly decent mics and pres here. Neumann, Neve, Rodes and all your usuals. We're trying for some interesting lo fi sounds. One thing we're doing is favoring cheap mics and driving them through a wem copicat as a mic pre rather than the neve.
