I got the same aluminum cases from Harbor Freight Tools (Item 39196) when they were on sale for only $19.99 each. However, the new # is IDEM 35777-3VGA http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=35777 and are $21.99 each when not on sale. Oh, and I don't think the IDEM 35777-3VGA comes with the nice thick foam like the old IDEM 39196 did, but other than that, they are the same aluminum cases and make wonderful microphone storage cases.

WalMart has some hard plastic handgun cases that are thick with foam from top to bottom, usually around 19.99...great for mics!

It is in the section with the Tool Boxes. They are aluminum and have foam lining in the case.

Would it be possible to rip out the divders in those cases and then stick in a block of foam that is already pre cut to your mics dimensions, or for the shockmounts, clips, to make it more customizable?

Yes. I have a camera case like that I use for my guitar gear. The dividers are movable/removable.

It comes with foam that is in inch squared sections that you can rip out to make most any shape. So, yes I would think you could. Also they come with dividers that you can cut to length.

Another idea is to put the mics in there without ripping sections of the foam out. This way the foam conforms to the mic exactly and if you don't keep the mics out of the case for extended periods of time the indentions stay. I have 3 of these things by the way!!

P.S. If someone needs some extra dividers I have a bunch of them that I have been saving. E-mail me and if you'll pay postage I'll give them to you.

You can arange the divders any way you want, and or they are removeable. Plus the case comes with a thick block of black foam that has little pre-cut squares in it so you can make it any way you want it easy.

Heres the one I am ordering this weekend....
Black Aluminum Case

Its big, which is what I require, and the price is good, and it looks good. Great combo. I have a case the same size filled up with about enough room for two more mics, so this one will be perfect. My other case is fucked up, its a zipper case and the zipper took a hike.

When I'm not using my mic's... I put them in a plastic zip-lock bag with a large Silica Gel pack, push the air out of the bag, and zip it closed. Then I put the zip-lock bag in the zippered mic case... and I put the zippered mic cases and their shock mounts and etc in the aluminum cases. The aluminum cases fit nicely in my "gun safe" and can be LOCKED-UP. I even have an alarm on the gun safe. Oh and the aluminum cases are all labeled so I know what's inside each case... and I keep the mic spec sheets in the aluminum cases too.

Damn DJL that sounds like overkill to me, well unless you live underwater. :)

I know, but I'm a happy camper this way... and your not the first one to tell me that's it's overkill either... but, thanks. :)

I bought 2 cases on ebay for pretty cheap, but they didna come with any foam inserts. Can anyone please reccomend a good place to buy that block-cut foam (online, b&m, whatever...)

Thanks!

What did you search under on ebay, I find like 10,000 results, too many too look under...

Those are too small, I am looking at the 25x16x6, wish I could find a used one...
I still havent ordered one yet, so I'm still looking.
