Hi folks

I'm about to embark on a (low budget) project that involves recording an acoustic steel string guitar. I'll obviously need a condenser mic for this purpose. I'm now facing the following dilemma.

My USB interface doesn't provide phantom power, which basically leaves me with three options:

1. Invest in a new interface with phantom power and a phantom powered condenser mic.

2. Keep the present interface and get a condenser mic that runs on batteries (I've been looking at the RODE NTG-2).

3. Keep the present interface, get a phantom powered condenser mic and a mic preamp.

Any suggestions as to which way I should go and product recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Nico

4. Get an outboard 48v phantom supply. Several of them out there to choose from.

based on your budget i'd take a look at samsons c-valve i had one of those when i was first startin out and that baby was sweet super easy to use and it added just enough warmth, because as you know or will soon find out acoustic is a different beast to capture and that box got me started on the right path
