i'm in the process of purchasing a decent mic between $200-$400. but i'm gonna be doing recording with it in many places for several years, so it is extremely important that the mic has a good case along with it. does anyone know which mikes have what kind of cases? hope you understand that question.
thanks

Some have nice plasic cases with foam, some have steely looking metal cases, some have zipperbags and some have no cases at all (these are the mics that all the other mics make fun of).

Or, you could just buy a case later.

What DALtune said. You might look into a fight case if you decide to buy a different case later.

Hey Rec. Eng. Where do I get a "fight case" from? My mics are ALWAYS getting into fights with the mic leads and my guitar - those bullies!! :D

I bought my cases at Home Depot- $20 aluminium "tool boxes" that are identical to $80 "mic cases" at the music stores. They come with interior partions whicf you can customixe to fit. With a combo of those partitions, self cut foam, and packaging with the mics (some have nice cases- but Shure products which you are sure to have just have little bags), it is a great set-up.
