Mic cables

This may seem like a dumb question, but if I only have 2 inputs and I want to close mic a drum set with one overhead mic (6 mics in all), do I have to record the drums 3 times, or is there a way I can connect all 6 mics to the 2 inputs I have?

Get a small mixer and do a submix into the two inputs.

Yeah use one of those ancient things called an audio mixer. If you use a stereo one you can even record things panned out
