Is d112 good for recording bass cabinet ??? anyone have experience with this mic on a bass cab? It does well for Kick but have never used it for Bass

yes...any mic could potentially mic a bass cab...
Will it sound good is the real question. Why don't you try it out, play with it's position and then tell us what you think! You'll learn a lot more trying to do that than asking, cause you'll likely just get a whole bunck of smartace answers like mine...
One suggestion I would make though, is make sure you know where the diaphragm is on your D112...once you know that it's easier to place the mic in the right spot.

i just used it on an old kasino bass amp about a month ago...first time i deviated from a 4047 in a while. sounded great.
a good trick with making the d112 sound even better is to not use it both on bass cab and kick on the same track...find a complementary mic that doesn't do the same thing eq-wise. The D112 scoops the middle and peaks the mid...a good complement is the 421 which seems to fit in that scooped middle.
thinking about it, the track i just used it on had d112 on bass and kick so it can work...that kasino head was not your typical bass sound.

I use it oon bass cabinets all the time. In fact, the mic was designed to be used on stand-up bass (acoustic double bass) and cello. Rock guys usurped it for kick drum use.

I agree with the 421, (if you got one or can get one). I always liked it better on bass cab than the D112. Just try different mic positions with the D112 first.

ah...the natural eq curve of the D112.
i have to admit i love the 421 on bass cab as well...it too has a mid peak thing that helps the bass cut - but in a different way than the D112. it also has a lot of lower mids and not the whump way down low like the D112 has.
both good reasons why they complement each other so well.

I remember recording a bassman amp with a neumann TLM103 & a solidtube................& it rocked SURPRISINGLY well for a bass sound being mic'd with LDCs
I have used a D112 but I generally go direct in these days
last time I recorded with a D112 other than for kick was a harmony section in a song......................I just fancied trying it & was mightily surprised

I have been using the modded 57 (removed transformer) on bass, and love it! It just lets the bass sit in the mix perfectly. We did a shoot-out with a SPB1, AT25Pro, e602 and the SM57(XT). We ended with the 57 on the bass and 602 on kickdrum, just pushed up the faders and there was no annoying lo freq clashes, its so nice when that happens.
