Hello all-
Prior to puchasing an MR-8, I downloaded the MR-8 brochure from the Fostex website. Upon a review of this info, I found a curious entry in the FAQ section - here it is verbatim:
Q: What kind of Amp simulation effects are on-board the MR-8?
A: BRIT STACK, US METAL, and 60's COMBO. There are various presets within each of these amps.

Q: What type of Microphone simulators does the MR-8 have?
A: There are 3 category types: DYNAMIC, CONDENSER, TUBE.
Each type contains various microphone models that fit that category type.

Is this true or is this just marketing Hoooey from Fostex? All I have been able to find are the 3 preset buttons for the MIC/AMP
simulators on the front panel. I have not found anything in the screen menu to back up Fostex's claim.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks-

I agree with you! I'm hoping that something slipped past them in the rush to ship and maybe this will be addressed with an OS update. There certainly are no presets that I can see, other than the buttons, but the brochure clearly states there are presets within those three categories.

Since the amp sim is so completely awful, it really seems like there's something in there they forgot to turn on...

Here is the response I got back from fostex:

"I believe that may be a misprint due to how the other products work. I will research this and correct if it in fact is wrong. Thanks for bringing this to our attention...

I guess we will see if anything becomes of this, but I doubt it.
I will keep everyone updated if I hear anything else.

Doesn't sound promising... I guess we need to bring the effect quality to their attention so that gets addressed in an upgrade. (I don't need it to be as good as a Korg Pandora, but it should certainly provide a usable distortion for recording sctratch tracks...)
