is there a way to use the metronome in CEP 2.0 with out it recording in the background? When I used to use Sonar the metronome was just on top, but never became part of the track.

I've never had CEP record the metronome. My guess is you have a soundcard issue... might it be set to a "what you hear" mode?
What kind of card do you have? What inputs are you using?

I have the sound card that came with my Dell, it's built in, non-removable. I know, I shoud get another one, but so far I just use the line in and it works fine, records good enough for now.
