I was watching a video and the producer/engineer showed how to set up the "metering" track (but didn't explain why it was needed). Something I haven't been using in my "newbie" recordings. What does metering do?, and why would I want to create a "metering track"?

Thanks for your input.

He must have been one of those, mix-by-sight guys. Don't pay attention to them. If your meters are in the red, that's usually not good (but not always).

mix by sight? you mean like... mixing songs based on the size of the waveforms of the tracks?

Not necessarily the waveform size. "Mixing by sight" usually is mixing so that everything is as close to 0db as possible (usually after being smashed into oblivion with a compressor/limiter).

Gracias

thanks for the reply...don't need the metering is the bottom line...I like it!

Gracias
