hello all,
i've done it again, i found myself a weird band i can record,
my last project was some simple fusion-jazz, learned alot from that recording,
and this weekend its time for some ghospel or gospel,
i don't even know how you write it,
its gonna be pretty basic, some guy is coming over with his keyboard,
and there's gonna be vocals and backing vocals, nothing more
i'm good in improvising but i'd like to be a bit prepared too,
so i wonder; what are the most important rules if you want to record this genre?
mhhh...its christian music, i bet they'll love the huge jezus christ i got hanging on my wall...next to my marilyn manson poster (big grin),
guess i'll burn some candles and record them...
i never recorded a choir, even if its only like four backingvocal people,
would you do it with a stereo pair of mics? (i got oktava mk012s)
or just one mic (akg c414),
if u use one mic, would u go for omni, how 'd you place the singers, in a "U"-shape around the mic, or all lined up next to each other, or all the vocals seperately....
i built a simple vocal booth, one with detachable walls, and got some basstraps, this takes away the most rotten sounds of my room,
but it still doesn't sound like a church in here...
what i could also try is to record some vocals downstairs in the "hall next to the stairs...." we got some natural reverb there
any suggestions are appreciated !
cheers,
J
