Take any distortion pedal....any, and get yourself a parametric eq. This is the ticket to that balls to the walls metal sound. I use a Boss DS-1 and an old Boss parametric EQ pedal along with a Boss GE-7 into an old Ampeg from the 60's. I get sooo many people coming up to me after gigs asking 'how the fuck are you getting that tone from that piece of shit amp?'....Spend $70 bucks and get an EQ. An EQ pedal will work fine. When I was a kid my dad had a TEAC 2 channel 10 band EQ on his stereo. He never used it so I patched it in after my distortion pedal and ran that to my amp. FFFFFFAAAAATTTTT. Sounded great. Most places that sell stereo equipment sell these types of EQ's for $50 to $60 bucks....give it a shot.
