Metal Pop Filter

Does anyone use a wire pop filter? I had the opportunity to A/B one with a couple of different regular ones (nylon?) this weekend. I eagerly bought it.
The regular types clearly attenuated high frequency. The wire mesh filter was transparent. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it with my own ears.
My wife has always complained about the sound of her voice through our pop filters. No more! Now we are recording her voice through our microphones as they were intended to be heard.
Give one a try!

Oh, forgot to add that the initial A/B tests were done in the music store by just holding the pop filters up to our mouths and listening to each other speak and sing. There wasn't even a mic involved...just our ears. The differences were significant.
Like I said in the first post...try it. It may be one of the best Christmas presents you could give yourself.

I think you're talking about a Stedman 101, which is not made of wire. Or- is there one actually made with wire? I certainly could hear the difference when I switched to steel. I'm not sure it's any more honest a sound than nylon, but I like it better. It's kind of like what they say about transformers in pres. You know, "adding iron" to the signal.
Besides, when some drugged up Punker puts out his cigarette on it, you can clean it off. Stedmans travel well.-Richie

Yes, it is the Stedman PS101. Upon closer inspection, you may be right...it's probably steel rather than wire mesh. We probably won't have to clean off any cigarette ashes, but I'm glad that it works for you!

Is Stedman the only maker?

Is Stedman the only one who makes metal pop filter?

I saw a website that sells one for $35 (while the Stedman PS101 costs $50), but I think it's SE Electronics or something like that. I wonder if the quality is different or not.

Do you guys think it's from the same manufacturer?
