Metal mix test

Lately I've really been trying to improve the sound quality of my music, but I think I've hit a wall recently and the only advice I am getting is just for trial and error, but it seems at this point anything i change just makes it worse. I've put together this mix:
to show the best sound I can get. I'm aware that the song seems really rushed, this is just something i put together for mixing purposes. One particular thing that stands out to me is how harsh the guitar tone is, is there any way to tighten it up by EQ'ing to get rid of some of the harsher frequencies? Please leave any thoughts on how I can be improving this mix, thanks.

There's no substitute for getting it right when tracking. IMO it's a bit fizzy but not overly. When the tone is scooped like yours, the top end will pop out and maybe seem overbearing on its own, but in context it may work.

Is this better or worse...

Thanks for your reply, when you say tracking do you mean the raw tones/preformance? Also, thanks for re-doing the track, what exactly did you do to it? The difference is only slight but I prefer your version by a slight margin

Yeah. The gtr as recorded. All I was referring to is getting it the best possible, up front, for the context.

Just a bit of EQ here and there. For distorted gtr, I always EQ out several DB at 2350 hz, narrow BW. Those frequencies hurt my ears.
