As recording guitarists, we're all cursed with the disease of perfectionism.

truest thing i have EVER heard. it also doesnt help that i have somewhat of an ocd. i expect everything i do to be perfect. it also doesnt help that i expect so much of myself... i expect myself to be the best player, the best engineer, the best mixer. and im only seventeen and alot of people i know tell me that and i need to relax because im expecting myself to play, sound, and have the gear of a 40 year old music/recording veteran.

im sure my tone actually is fine *to other ears* but if it doesnt sound good to me then i could never be satisfied with anything i create and i couldnt be happy. its my dream to be a successful guitar play just like any other 17 year old who likes country or rock but i DEFINATELY wouldnt mind becoming an audio engineer. its a field that fascinates me and i really enjoy it, its something i could be proud of rather than doing something just to make a living.

but now back to the point. tadpui you have been the most helpful person ive encountered on this site. the world needs more ppl like you :D

thing is ive done my fair share of reading and learning.... probably last year and a half spent reading, learning, and buying gear now and again to build a modest little studio. i really love learning about this stuff... lol.

and i never EVER turn the mids all the way down no matter what. i learned alot reading slippermans guide to recording distorted guitars from hell and i have read and re-read ALL of tweakheadz guide... hell i even printed the whole damn thing off and use it as a recording bible now lol.

and i have some sennheiser headphones and some crappy epiphone headphones too. but i prefer to keep my cab out of my room where i cant hear it and use monitors along with the headphones to hear my tone and judge how it sounds. i also dont like a lot of distortion cause i like to hear my amp/guitar tone rather than a big blurry distorted mess.

i can probably just sell a bunch of my gear and my amp and maybe some of my other stuff to get a tube amp i guess..... hopefully ill get lucky and get a good deal on one.

even though its the answer i def. didnt wanna hear lol thanks for all the help everyone. you have no idea how much i appreciate it. thank you for taking the time out to put your word in, especially you tadpui.

off to craigslist! lol
