My desktop's slowly growing with icons of mp3s from this bbs. I'm renaming them so I remember who did them, but I've already lost the thread in a couple of cases.

Help me out with renaming songs on my desktop. Who did "Song for Her?" and who did "tl_end" (music for the news or weather)?.

I did the "tl_end" which is just the end vamp for the final version. Which you can get at www.idrive.com ... account "big-kahuna" if you want. Nice to know you kept it!

How the hell are you keeping your PC afloat saving stuff to the desktop?
Create a "My Music" folder on your main drive
and then each day/week/month that the folder becomes unmanageable due to you not recognizing the pieces contained therein create a new one. I do it daily. I like to include the date in my folder names because I've devised a system of file dating (non- Y2K compliant but I don't give a flying Fig Newton) that only requires 4 characters. I call it: JFMAYULGSOND because those are the months' initials. The other three characters are the two digits for the day of the month and one digit for the final digit of the current year.
Example: April 28th, 2000 = a280.
Icons on the desktop slow down your system bigtime and clutter your display.
Only leave icons for programs you run regularly. I don't mind if you leave some Cat Brains on your desktop though...

doc - oh man, you scientific types are sooo organized. I still get a sense of satisfaction when I get my shoelaces tied and bills paid. I mean, I still haven't carried out that long-overdue Win 98 reinstallation. Just lemme know when you're coming to Singapore - I gotta lotta things we can work on when you get here.
