Wow, I haven't seen this thread in a while.

I now have mics. a small collection but a good start:

sm58
sm57
ecm8000
mxl v67g

and my DAW mr-8 has an internal mic. I actually use it to capture an idea that I know I need to put down Now. w/out any cable or stand or connections or preamps or even headphone. just switch to internal, pick a trck and record. Of course this mic sucks, but it's super handy....

old RS PZM's I should dust off and see if they're worth the time to power up.

Most of my mics are for drums and percussion although I have had occassion to mic up fiddle, brass, sax, guitar and voice.

(1) ATM25
(1) CAD KBM412
(2) Sennheisser e604
(8) Radio Shack 330-3032
(1) AT Pro 25
(4) AT DR-DRM Kit (4 mics)
(2) Oktava MK219
(1) Studio Projects B1
(1) Shure SM57
(1) Shure SM58
(1) AKG D690
(1) Sennheisser e835
(1) Rode V67
(edit: oops! Marshall)
(2) Marshal MXL 1000
(2) Behringer ecm8000
(1) Audix F-12

So, I got nothing real fancy, but what I got is mostly for live work although a few of them double up real well for some home studio work. The cheap little Audio Technica drum mic kit I bought for on the road and I suppliment with the AT Pro 25, the RS 330-3032 and one of the e604's and the MXL 1000 as overheads. I'm thinking about a pair of BLUE balls instead.

The SP B1 and the Rode (edit:Marshall) V67 I use primarily as a vocal mic for a lady friend with a powerful alto voice. (She gives me a pair of BLUE BALLS a lot, but we're talking mics here)

The Audix F-12 has become a new favorite as a floor tom mic along with the AT Pro 25 in the studio.

I've never heard of a Rode V67 before or do you mean the Marshall MXL V67?

Duh.....

Yup, Marshall is what I meant. It's a new acqusition that I got at Sam Ash on sale just last week for $99 and I was also looking at the Rode mics at GC also, seems I got a bit confused there . It's that one with the gold colored screen on it. The lady in question kinda likes the "gold" aspect of it. :)

I haven't tried it on drums yet. I don't know how it will fair. I sort of think of it as solely a vocal mic.

Then you got the Marshall MXLV67G... note the "G"... and your in for a nice surprise, because the V67G works well for many things other than just vocals.

1 - Marshall MXLv67G
1 - Marshall MXLv93M (2003)
1 - Shure SM57
1 - Peavey 520i
2 - Radio Shack 33-3032
2 - Behringer ECM8000

2 X Bruel & Kjaer 4006s
1 X AT 4040
3 X SM 58
2 X SM 57
1 X AKG D112

...a couple dodgy ones too!

If it weren't for this hrbbs I never would've known that Marshall makes mics or that cheap mics could be any good. v67 is popular here.

Also, I got lucky that mine works well. The first thing I did was test it out, look for spikes in freq. resp. and other stuff from the mic FAQ....

i don't feel so out of place

more like a shoebox than a locker......but getting there.

2x shure sm58
2x sennheiser e835 (1 w/ switch)
2x MXL 603s
1x shure 545 (sm57's predecessor)
1x Studio Projects B1
1x EV RE38 :D

next on the list are more of those 545's (love em!), an MXL v67g, and some "nice" dynamics like the senn 421's and 441's, an RE20 or SM7. eventually all of the above.

This response makes it seem like you think the company that makes Marshall amps is the same company that makes Marshall mics. They're not the same company. One is based in the US and makes Mogami cable and some other electronics. One is the amp manufacturer.

I apologize if I misread your post and you already knew that.

Actually MXL seems like it should be Maxell, the cassette tape mfgr., there's also maxell, no, Memorex, that makes tape and Memorex CD media and I guess the same co. makes the CDRW drives, but who knows since Marshall is not the same co. for the mics and amps. Learn new stuff all the time....

DigitMus you have a sweet collection! I didn't see many dynamics in there. You have a Brauner VM-1 KHE, some DPA's, but no SM-57s? What's up with that? I'll trade you.

I've gotten some new ones since this started

LDCs

Korby M-10 Convertible w/
1) 251 head
2) U47 head
3) U67 head
4) C12 head
5) SP C1
6) MXL V63M

SDCs

7/8) (2) Neumann KM-184s

Dynamics

9/10) (2) SM-57s
11) SM-58
12) AKG D-112
13) EV/ND 157
14) EV/ND 257

14 mics
(1) Shure SM58
(3) Shure SM57
(1) MXL V67
(1) SP C1
(2) SP B3
(1) MXL V77
(2) Oktava 012's
(1) Sennheiser e602
(2) Sennheiser e609

Probably my next victims after getting nicer pre's, would be some more high end mic stuff.

My mic collection hasn't really grown to much in a while, bands are taking my money now.

(4) Shure SM57
(1) Shure Beta 52
(1) AKG D112
(2) SP C1 (one old w/out rolloffs and such)
(2) Behr*nger ECM8000

Right now it seems to be doing most of the work that I need them to do.

One of each:
Neumann TLM103
AKG C3000
AKG D330BT
Sennheiser K6 module + ME62 Capsule
Sony Stereo Microphone
Behringer XM8500 (SM58 ripoff, stolen from lead singer during concert.)

I've added the following since, which brings me to 16.

Shure SM81 (2)
ADK SC-1 (2)
Shure SM57 (2)
AudioTechnica ATM25
Shure SM7
Behringer ECM8000 (2)

I bought a bunch of MXL mics at my local MARS auction, and have traded or sold them at various points to end up with this, at the moment:

(1) AT4050 - $350 used
(1) AT4033 - $150 used
(1) AT3035 - $199 new
(1) MXL V93M - $55 (new at auction)
(2) AT Pro37R - $99 each new
(1) SM57 - $79 new
(1) Rode NTK - $389 new
(1) SM58 - bought so long ago I don't remember what I paid for it.

I also have a couple of mics belonging to a friend of mine who lent them to me - an AKG414 and a pair of Neumann KM84s. Those are nice. :)

I also shop around heavily before I pick up something.
