My guess is this isn't a home studio user. Gotta be PRO with that kind of budget. (which I don't have) Don't you just love a showboat?

I think I would need to see your pic with all those mics to believe this one...

He works at a legit pro studio. He has a great deal of experience with all these mics. Wish he'd post more. I'd like to hear from more people who use the good stuff regularly. You rarely hear a peep from Harvey anymore.

That's gotta be the largest collection of cheap mics I've ever seen.

I just think that statements like this are quite arrogant. If he works in a pro studio, then he should have those kinds of mics. And actually, unless he OWNS the studio, those arent his mics, he just has access to them. Since this is HOMErecording.com and not PROrecording.com, it is understood that most of use are using lowend or budget equiment in the hopes that we can save up enough to get that $3000 - $4000 mic or pre.

Is there anything else I need?

just wonder what I need next

Studio projects C4 (on order)
Shure KSM27
Audio Technia 4040
Shure SM57 (2)
Audio Technia 2020
Berhinger B1
V-Tech Dynamic (SM58 clone)

Senheiser 609 is on my wish list. Do I need anything else in my price range?

Another C4? And you might dump the 2020 and the B1, since you have the 27 & 4040. You need a better dynamic more than 4 LDCs.

There are so many mics I'd love to try, but this is what I actually have for now.

shure sm57 x2
Sennheiser e 835s x2
AKG c3000
Studio Projects B1
ADK Hamburg
CAD M179

I'm just getting my start:

1 Shure SM57 - $50 used.

1 Shure KSM32 - $220 new...I convinced Guitar Center to sell me the mic at cost because their employees were treating me poorly, often ignoring me for other customers or saying they are going to grab a mic and instead taking their lunch break...I guess they assumed an eighteen year old can't afford decent equipment.

Pair of Rode NT5's - $320 new...they were displays at Sam Ash.

Sennheiser MD421 - $280 new..GC had to order this, so I made them give me 20% off because they told me they had one in stock and it's about an hour drive for me...I guess I'm kind of an asshole, or smart with my money :p

Shure KSM109/SL - $180...the only microphone I payed list for. I think I'm going to return it and get an AT4041 since 8th Street Music sells them for $179.99.
