1 SM58
1 AKG D112
3 AT Pro37r
1 SP C1

As I'm sure everyone does, there are lots of mics I wish I had, like the Sennheiser e609, a pair of Oktava Mc012's, and a few more 57's.

I love the C1...some don't but I do

and many other random cheap cool mics that i love more than most of the listed mics

I have a meager list compared to most of you guys.

1) Rode NT1 - for home studio

2) Peavey PZM something or other - Actually, not a bad mic for live vocals. It's hotter than a 58 and pretty crisp.

3) V-Tech something or other. - total crap. It's a 40 dollar mic I bring along for emergencies.

1-SM57
1-Rode NT1000
1-Oktava MK319 (actually works pretty good on our singers voice)
1-$10 Radio Shack P.O.S
1-30 year old omni radio shack (my dads)

well, thats it, not much, but its what i've got. I am looking at some Oktava MC012's next time they go 2 for $100, and a AKG D112, or a Shure Beta 52. Possibly an E609 as well.

My personal mic collection sucks, if I need better stuff at home, which I rarely do, I borrow it from one of the 3 studios I use.

H2H

Same here, except that I borrow from my church or I check out mics from my school.

My Collection:
1x Studio Projects B1

Church Collection:
3x AKG 451EB
1,000,000 Shure SM58's and SM 57's

School Collection:

Condensers:
8x AKG 451
2x AKG 460
2x Studer SKM5
2x Shoeps CMT54
4x Neuman KM 183
4x Neuman KM 184
10x RODE NT5 (2x surround sets)
4x Microtech Geoffell M300
2x Sony C48
4x AKG C414
1x Sanken CU41
3x Neuman TLM 103
3x Neuman U87
4x Shure KSM 32
2x RODE NT2
2x RODE NTK
2x Audio Technica AT 4050
4x Earthworks QTC1
10x Sennheiser ME66
2x Sennheiser ME88

Dynamics:
10x Shure SM58
8x Shure SM57
2x Shure SM7
1x EV RE 20
2x EV RE 27
8x Sennheiser MD421
1x Sennheiser MD441
4x AKG D112
2x Shure Beta 52
4x Sennheiser e609

Ribbons:
1x RCA 44
1x RCA 77
4x Royer R122

Others:
2x Shure VP-88
2x Audio Technica AT822
6x Audio Technica AT825
4x Audio Technica AT815ST
1x Crown SASS
2x Shure ECM55B
5x Sony Lavalier
2x Crown PZM 30D

While I'm still in school these will all be in MY mic cabinet. I really like the Sennheiser e609's for tom bottoms. It makes them sound HUGE. Also, the Royers sound really cool on amps with a SM57.

The real standouts so far to me are the Microtech Geoffell M300's. Through an Avalon AD2022 on acoustic guitar or drum overheads they sound incredible.

Also, I was somewhat dissapointed by the all of the Neumans. They are great mics, but they are soooo overpriced. The M300's sounded much better than the KM184's for less money. I prefered the AT4050 and AKG C414 over the U87. I could get a matched stereo pair of all three for about the same price as one U87.

The Earthworks QTC1 pairs sound great on acoustic piano and pickup up a really cool stereo image when placed inside a drum kit underneath the cymbals.

Anyways, I only get to use these for a year and a half more.

Price range?
Acoustic guitar?
Drums?
What instruments?
Large diaphram?
Small diaphram?
Cardiod?
Omni?

Well, I am an absolute newbie... and I have just 1,

a brand new Sennheiser e845

I still have to overcome my fear of buying second hand, I'm used to buy first hand, but then again, I havent really bought anything expensive enough to be put in front of a big $$ dilemma either :)

And then you get sucked into the same expensive vortex of mic collecting we're all stuck in. :)

you guys really rich :)

i only have 2 :
sm 57 and rode 1000
and i like to buy one more.. any suggest guys ?

Okay, I'm a sucker for surveys. This one is even luring me out of lurkdom.

(1) SM57 - $60
(1) SM58 - $50
(1) MXL V67G - $90
(3) Oktava MK-012 (2 are matched) - ~$340 for all
(2) Behringer ecm8000 - ~$80 for both
(2) Superlux PRA-218A - ~$80 for both
(4) Superlux FT-4 - ~$100 for kit w/ below mic
(1) Superlux FK-2 - see above
(2) Sony F-97 Dynamics (from an old reel-to-reel) - $0
(1) AKG D660 - ~$30
(2) Random Cheap SM58 knockoffs - $?

Soon: 2 of the TapeOp group buy Nady RSM-2/4 Hybrid Ribbon Mics - ~$200

Some of these were semi-accidental duplicate purchases and may be sold off once I get a chance to see what works best for what uses. I think the only other thing I'll be wanting will be another LDC to have as an alternate option, probably will save up for a nice one.

The really sad part? I've hardly had a chance to use most of these. Around the time I started to stock up, my daughter was born and it's been hard to get recording time in since. I will be recording my band in the next couple of months though, along with a buddy's stoner rock band, so they should get broken in pretty quickly.
