Melodica and Cornet Which Mics?

Hey!
I study sound production at college, and i've got my recording practical assessment in a weeks time! I've been given a band that will be using a melodica and a cornet - both of which i have never mic'd up before...

Can i ask the font of all knowledge for suggestions?

some of the mic's we have to use are

AKG d112
bayer technica (flathead)
Audio Technica
SM58
AKG D550

alot will depend on the players... if they are incapable of any finesse then stick to a dynamic... they're more forgiving...

Do you have a beta 57 or regular 57 at your college to use?

Hey,

None of your beta's there...I'm thinking for the Cornet i could use the SM58 and the audio technica on the melodica... or some other condenser.

The band i'm recording are just out of the studio, so they are pretty competent musicians so i'm not worried about that!
