Hey, this is really creative. Interesting, interesting. What about bringing the level up on the blues business at the end? Check out Scott Walker's 'Tilt', by the way. Listen to it ten times. You're a candidate, although there's more Bungle in this than Scott's work. Like the guy said: 'More, more!'

Dobro: Thanks! I'll try to check out Scott Walker. I thought about bringing the blues up at the end...but really I wanted it to sound far away. I've been telling people that this song just won't sound right unless the volume on the stereo is at least up to 1/3 or 1/2. In a pop song that would be annoying...but this was an experiment what the heck :) Heh. Thanks for listening man!

I'm am new to here, so... I don't know, if theres a inituation ritual or something like that throw it at me I guess... anyway...
I listened to me vs me. I think you should call it me vs me vs me, cuz there are 3 parts! I really liked parts 1 & 2. Listening to part1 an image popped to my head of a frustrated guy sitting in his room (in front of a PC perhaps), waiting for something to happen, thoughts running all over his head (from left to right) Then he says 'screw it' and leaves or something (part2). I really like the heavy guitar riff played over by that computerry-sounding keyboard thingie (what was that?) Makes me think of Ween for some reason (sorry if U not down with Ween). Part 3, well, i like but i don't think it fits the previous ones, at first i thought it'd be much shorter, a transition to something else, but it goes on, so i was waiting for something to happen that never did. i think it would be cool to have a shorter part after two similarly 'long' ones - it adds dynamics, and whatever afterwards. in itself, part3 i like, a cripple-robot slowly coming towards you. Guitar soloing just a background works real good. is that you playing? also i'm very interested in what software U use and how U go about it, in general.

The "that computerry-sounding keyboard thingie" was a clean guitar freaked out through an autovol plugin. Basically just some blues riffs on crack. (used a fasoft autovol dx plugin)

Yeah the guitar playing at the end is me. Like I said above in this thread I used fruity loops and other synthesis software for some of the weirder shit...and I used n-Track for a lot of it...tracking, mixing, and many effects. Some of the samples were things I found off the net and I just distorted them into what I needed.

I am a newbie as well only to this web-site. I enjoyed this very much. Had no idea what direction my ears were headed and thats the best part. RadioHead kept coming to mind as I listened and when I say RadioHead I mean Pink Floyd in which case I mean King Crimson which usually leads me back to the Beatles #9. Can't wait to hear your next endeavor.

Damn Slack, that was the weridest shit I ever heard:D Man you should be making sound tracks for movies or something. kept me waiting for something new around the corner, and sure enough...Bam! me vs me hmmm...which one of you actualy wins in the end? I did enjoy listening to this and don't be so long posting mp3's on here in the future...got it?:D
 
Nice work Slack. I listened quite a few times to the tune. I read the thread before I listened, so I didn't get the full surprise at 1:02 but still wasn't prepared for what happened. Great guitar sound. Yeah, the beginning was floydian. I liked the orchestial break a bunch. Great work.

I don't know how many times over the last week or so I've listened to this, but I still keep listening to it everyday hoping that it'll make sense and it still hasn't. But I guess if I've kept listening to it you must have done something right, otherwise I wouldn't be listening to it still. Maybe it's like abstract art, at first it looks kinda weird, but you are compelled to look at it to try figure out what it's about. I really have nothing else to comment because I'm still scratching my head over this one. I'll look forward to the next piece.
 
LOL, Jon-X I like the abstract filmmaking observation. The compositions are very unique. I listened twice - which is saying alot. Nice work, slack.
 
Holy shit, i love that intro, great song, i ma a big fan of the combining of guitar tracks and some of the more "techno" computer stuff. all around good tune, loved it

David, that may be the weirdest shit you've ever heard...but I heard something much stranger just the other day....I was waiting for my truck to warm up before going to work, so I was of course watching the Teletubbies (hey, no cable). For some crazy ass reason, though, my truck outside was interfering with the UHF signal and I was getting this crazy creepy static sound from the TV...and in the background I could still make out the Teletubbies show. If you've ever seen the Teletubbies, you know that there's not much music or sound...just the ocassional baby voice or dog barking or that freaky ass speaker that pops up out of the ground to order the teletubbies around. Anyways, it was quite the experience....like I was hearing "kiiiiiilllll youuuuurrselllfff killllll evvverrrryyyonnnnneeeee ga ga goo goo bark bark killll thhheeee maiilman" from the speaker and on the screen I'm seeing these rolling hills with flowers and bunnies and computer generated giraffes. Pretty fucked up but I enjoyed it. I really should have tried to record it..ah well. Anyways, thanks for listening!

Coop, that's almost exactly what my girlfriend said about this one. There's just enough music in there that your ears want to keep hearing it, but no such luck... it kind of reminds me of a sore tooth.... you know that if you push on the tooth that it's going to hurt, but you just can't help yourself. I don't know what it is or where to put it, but it sure is fun to listen to. Boldly creative. Fits nicely into my current playlist. The good part about challenging yourself is, you will always come out the winner.
