Md8 mmc

I have been trying to control my Yamaha MD8 with Cubase 5 essential. I seem to have my MD8 setup to receive MMC but am not having any success with getting Cubase to send any actions from the transport. Has anyone out there been able to do this or know the direction to point me so I can get this working? Really all I want the MD8 to do is play when I hit play in Cubase
