Has anyone with a md8 noticed the block diagram in the manual shows the direct outs being switched to recorder input when in the record mode ? That looks like recorder in, bypassing the mixer. The reason i would want to bypass the mixer would be to use a 8 buss mixer with it. I know the manual says they are direct outs, but it does look like they are patched into recoder in on the block diagram. Somebody else take a look at there manual diagram and see if looks that way to you, or do i just need a complete checkup. I wouldn't mind seeing a complete schematic.
Thats it !

I'm not sure if I understand the question, but here's a go-

I'm looking at the block diagram on page 105, but I don't see what your talking about.
Maybe it means "out to recorder" or something???

I think using the direct channel outs WILL bypass the mixer. You could try it...

You might wanna ask yamaha tech support...

I believe the RCA direct outs on the back of the MD 8 will send what you've recorded on each track to another/better mixer if you choose to use one, rather than mix-down on the MD-8.

I'm not sure if the direct outs will carry a signal, like you're recording on track one, out and through to another source?

But, you can find out by giving it a try.

Have fun experimenting....

Older than dirt !

Dear mr. hornet,
I guess you are talking about Stan musual, can't remember how the name is spelled. Yes i'm old enough to hide my own Easter eggs, but still playing music. I think i'm gonna call yamaha about those direct outs. I know what they are for, but on the diagram it looks as they are switched to recorder input, bypassing the mixer.

thats it !
