Would somebody make a suggestion? I am about to get the MBox today. Is it advised to get the factory bundle of plugins, or should I save the hundred and get another Software application with plugins. If so, which software would you all suggest?
 
Get the factory bundle. The Joe Meek comp and the Moogerfooger stuff is amazing. Besides, if you get other software, it has to be RTAS to work with Pro Tools anyway.
 
Maxim is really handy for a quick overall "loudness" boost.

It's a limiter plug. It lets you knock down the peaks in your mix so you can turn it up more for more apparent loudness. It does a decent job of raising the perceived loudness without killing the sound if you use it sparingly.
 
good tip thanks, I'm going to go ahead and get the mBOx with the factory bundle on today.
 
yeah Maxim does this very well IMO. It has a sort of "automatic attack" where it looks ahead several milli-seconds to determine how fast it should set the attack, so you don't have to worry about it. Plus it has dithering.

Much better of a plugin than the standard Digi-limiter
