mbox question

im thinkin of buying the m-box and have some questions...keep in mind i record rap, thats all. now i have an AKG c 3000 b which requires phantom power. im thinkin of buying the m-box but here are my questions. I have a crappy on board soundcard, and no preamp at the moment. Will the m-box take care of both those options? meaning with the m-box i wont need a preamp with phantom power and i will not need a new soundcard, or are both of those still required. Question number 2: does the m-box have XLR(?) plug in. im not sure if thats what its called but its the big plug with three prongs that my mic has. question 3: is it USB or how does is plug in to the computer, and final question: since you cant play music and say game sound on it, would i be able to route my speakers to just my inboard soundcard, and play the sounds from there?

The M-Box does have connects for your mic and preamp but not sure about phantom power. Your audio will route thru USB so your old card wont be used for recording unless your doing midi and use the soundfonts. But can be used for playback and monitor.
 
Hello. I am buying the mBox, so I have looked into these things a bit. Here you go:

1. The mBox gives phantom power out, so you won't need a preamp for this.
2. It has two XLR in's
3. It connects through USB, doesn't even need an external power source! :)
 
yeah... it has phantom power, and the mic preamps are very nice... it should suit u fine for what ur recording...
 
Don't forget the great Pro Tools LE software supplied, it make syou compatbile with almost every big studio!
 
so i can just stay with the soundcard i have right now in my comp, it doesnt matter what it is?
 
yeah, u dont need ur CPU sound card, the sound comes form the MBOX, so i guess it has liek a sound card inside of the mbox, or sumin like that... but i no for a fact that u wont be needing your sound card...
