Maximizing xp pro

I have seen some of you mention a way/ ways to maximize windows xp pro for use in a DAW system.

I was wondering if you could elaborate on what a person should do to make xp DAW efficient.

Wipe the drive and install Windows 2000!
I'm kind of joking...My only XP experiences have been on my parents PC when I visit them and I use them to surf the net and stuff. THey have something like 1.2GHZ machines and I feel that my 450MHZ smokes them with Windows 2000. Perhaps I just take better care of my OS?

As far as XP goes, once I got the patch to fix the problems with audio via USB, I've had zero complaints. Heck, I'd even recommend it.
