so i need to get something that will allow me to record more than one track at a time.

can anyone tell me what the biggest differences between these are? and why is the MAudio a fraction of the price?
That does everyone else use to allow multi-tracking?

I am running a Dell 3.6gHz, 1 gig RAM. I am currently using n-track and some Sonar4.

The M-Audio has 'less good' converters (certainly cheaper) and I think the lite version of 1010 is short on balanced i/o. What are you wanting to do? A Delta 44 or 66 will give you 4 balanced ins and 4 balanced outs, plus spdif if you get the 66.

MOTU, btw, should be a lot better. But if you're not sure, don't bother paying all that extra. If you get a Delta, your weakest link will probably shift. I have a decent mixer and one or two mics now, think my cheap plugins might be one of my weaker spots now.

HTH!

thanks for the help. basically i just want it so i can record more than one track at a time for drums. what will be the difference between having balanced in's versus not balanced ones?

aren't RME products usually more expensive? the reason the mAudio appeals to me is because it is cheaper..

I think you need to rewind a step, before you start thinking about MOTU or RME or whatever. Run a search on the forum and you will find a hundred explanations of balanced cabling ... I would do it now but have already done a couple today and even someone as dumb as me has limited patience!!!

Decide how many inputs you need and buy a card based on that and your other requirements. I needed four and nothing else, so I bought a Delta 44. It's an excellent card IMO and has dropped significantly in price.

Mach,

I have the Echo Mia, that i've been running for about 3 years now. I've outgrown it, and went to the Delta 1010LT.

It's an awesome card. I have been using it for about a month now, and haven't had any issues. The quality of the recording and conversions is seamless, and you'll be very happy with it.

Secondly, I got the Delta from GC for 187 and some change.
