It's like crystal clear surf music all up in my face, in a good way! Hey Greg, would you give me a little more detail on your gtr signal chain, I got the Strat and no plugs part, I hear some kinda vibra-? effect. Is that a Fender amp with spring-verb in it? Is that just your whammy or something else? I'd like to try to recreate that sound on an old tune of mine. Thanks for the inspiration!

:D

Thanks dude. It's just a Strat and Guitar Rig dialed in to a Fender Super Reverb with Vibrato.

Ha! Very clean for all the verb that's flying around. The bass is eq'd well..bet that was a bitch to get it to cut thru the toms of doom. GR has a surprisingly good spring reverb sound. You've got some wicked vibraslap chops, dude.:D
No nits on anything...maybe the guits seem a bit present at around 2k or so, but it aint killing me. Great mix especially considering the challenges of the verb settings.

Nice surf!

Cool, thanks dude.

Cool tune Gerg. I got nothing to add, so rub a wiener for me. :D

Fantastic.

I find nothing the matter with this in the least. Quite effin catchy.

Surf a billy.

This is cool shit man. I like this surf music and you do it very well. It's funny, but I used to try to surf when I was younger and it didn't turn out too well. I am from Kentucky and didn't know you had to have the wax on the board. So just getting out to the swells was a funny task. Much less, when I finally caught a wave it almost drown my ass, because I got scared and tried to pull out of the wave, but when I did, I turned around and there was another that took me under and washed me around on the bottom like a limp rag.

I know you don't care about that story, but it is funny stuff to me. A Kentucky boy trying to surf. :laughings: That, to me, is hilarious. Great song though. I really enjoyed it.

As a PRO, I have to mention that there is just too much sibilance in the lispy vocals. Have your teeth checked.

:( :(

Haha, surfing can be tough. Our waves are little down here though so it's not too dangerous.

Thanks for the listen.

A spoonfull of salt is a lot unless you're cooking Gumbo or have no arteries left!
I didn't feel it as IYF at all.
It sounded like a modern take on surf instrumental informed by psychobilly
A lot of the instrumentals surf stuff from the 60's was mixed by people with no affinity for salt water (BW too) let alone pop'n'rock so they made things pallatable.
A lot of the stuff I have on compilations was indep. release, stuff & is very IYF.
Oh, Greg, COOL! Were you inspired by your vacation & the gentle rhythms of petrochemical alley?
You need Ed Roth for this one too!

As usual the drums sound fantastic and the guitar tones are perfect for this song. It reminds me (in a good way) of some of the guitar stuff Southern Culture on the Skids does on their albums. A perfect ten!

You've totally nailed the sound, melodies and grooves of that era.

Hey I've got some video that would go this! :D

Nice job

Haha, thanks Ray. I do like me some gumbo. Had a big bowl of crab gumbo and a fried catfish po-boy yesterday while I watched my Saints whoop up on the Tampa Bay Bucs. I don't know what inspired this. I guess when you spend as much time as I do fishing the beach and listening to the Ventures, something like this is bound to happen. ;)

I told ya! Thanks man. :D

Hey! I really like it. I prefer fatter drums, but that's just me. The arrangement is really good, lots of dynamics. So do you put this in the background when you and your buddies go out shooting snakes in the Texas desert? Pounding back a cold one in a 4X4? I can totally see it.

sorry for the hijack...but is pounding back a cold one something to do with sex with a dead prostitute?

i gotta pound a warm one next <facepalm>

Lol. No. I live in a city of 5 million people, there are no deserts around here, and I'm not a redneck.

Thanks for checking it out though. :)
