On my alesis masterlink, when Im recording to HD from my console,it seems as if I have to keep the signal very low in order not to peak the masterlinks led.I realize that there is a gain control on the masterlink after you have recording to hard drive. What might I be doing wrong?? The playback levels are very low.My Phillips was louder!!

Are you running +4 OUTs into -10 INs?? That would do it.......!

I'm running +4 OUT into the +4 INs and it calibrates where it should for 0dB........

Well, Im running RCA in and out of the masterlink. It seems that they would be -10db +5 db max per the manual. As my console only has 1/4 out,I dont think I have choice! Or do I??Thanks Blue,Jim

I just had a thought! Could I buy some kind of a ad/da converter that accepts 1/4" INPUTS that I could then run from it into the masterlinks inputs??

Well... the RCA I/O is definitely -10 dbV...

Are you sure the console output is not more than -10dBV? Connector type (RCA, in this case) doesn't dictate indicate the signal level........

What console are you using and what output are you taking from it over to the Masterlink?

Dont slam me for this console....it has happened before!! I have a Peavey production series 2400.36 in and 24 buss. 1/4" output jacks. Unless I look it up in the manual I done know what the output is-10? I would not think so. I go straight from the console's master jacks(1/4") to the masterlink! Jim

The manual will tell you exactly what signal structure the 1/4" outs are....

They could easily be +4.... and since the Masterlink's RCA's a -10dBV, that would explain the issue!

You throw a passive resistor network in between the mixer and the masterlink.... Radio Labs makes good ones... I've used them before......... they don't seem to audibly affect the signal quality...........
