How i can get the max volume of my song without distort, because the sound of my CD is too low.

THANK YOU.

Use a Limiting DSP.... but if it's a serious project, you're better-off taking it to a mastering house.

you tried the Mastering Tool Kit and used one of those patches and messed with the limiter on there right? I used that and it seemed to help.
i dont have what id call a good limiter (alesis & dbx compressors) which i guess i could use as limiters. Maybe I should invest in one...any ideas who makes good ones, anyone?

yea my Cds are a little quiet too, but i dont have the $$$ for a real mastering job.

What is too low?

You need to find out why its too low first off.

Was it because the gain staging during tracking wasn't right?

Was it because the mix bus ran out of power when summing?

What kinda of music is it and what are you comparing it to?

Is the sound card or whatever calibrated to the proper levels?

I ve found that the most important thing is to get the input levels (pre) on the recorder right to begin with. THere is also a attenuation control on each effects screen for each track to help balance the levels along with a combination of the compressor ratios and the level also help. The distortion you expereince could be from having your peak clipping level set to low. Go into the utilities menu and find it under recording parameters I think and set it to 0 db.This will give you more head room on the input levels as they come in. When you mix down make sure the master level is just slightly into the red before you master anything. You will have comparable volume to a commercial cd that way. Then send the thing to a good mastering studio or purchase the new vs8f-3 baoard and mastering plug in. And try that approach. I had similar trouble with low volumes when I first started too.Remember there are many things that combine too affect your volume level on each track. Even adjusting eq and effect processors change volume levels. Each input side of each trtack must be balanced right before proceeded to mix down. Be patient it takes time to learn. Read all you can about it
