I've found out this morning that if I stick my fingers in my ears, my recordings sound better.

Is this something anyone else does? Do the pros use this "finger in the ears" trick?

It greatly reduces the nasty trebley harsh ear drum piercing , in short crap, out of my recordings its cool!!

Now I can listen to nearly all of my previous recordings without crying.

This way you´re listening much more the direct sound, without the rear wall reflections that confuses the stereo image.

I have to think that this is some sort of veiled sarcasm...?

I only have one ear. (Stone Deaf in the right ear) so stereo means nothing to me. I'm a mono man. But then again, so did Brian Wilson and look at him!

In that case, you only need your left index finger :)

In my case I have reduced high frequency response in my right ear so I have to use my left index and partly insert my right pinky :D

. I have the exact same situation. I'm pretty sure it stems from that accident I had with superglue, ipod headphones, and my fingers but I'm not sure.

It's so much more efficient that way. Then you can keep working with your other hand.

I'm going to go blow out my right eardrum right now! :D

If they sound great with your fingers in your ears, you might try hitting the stop button. All crappy recordings sound better when they're not being played.

I tried this last night (I'm always willing to try a new technique).

It did not really help my mixes...........and worse........now I've got earwax on all my faders:eek:

I thought about trying to stick my fingers in various other holes to see if it helped my mixes.......but I realized that could really mess up my board
