Mastering Mix Balance, etc

Hi Guys,

I got a question for ya :)

OK, so I've completed my 12 tunes for my CD...each individual tune sounds pretty darn good (5 of em went up to #1 overall on ACIDplanet - if that's anything to go by :-).....I'm rather pleased with the audio quality of the tracks, etc...

BUT, now...what's the "best method" to make sure that the CD is mastered properly, and all tunes are set/burned at the same VOL levels, etc?

I was thinking that perhaps I should just open each individual TUNE in SF 6.0 and just set the VOL levels the same for all of 'em......but, then I thought IF I did that maybe that would actually change/alter the good mix/balances that I have already achieved working on the songs seperately...

IF ya get my drift?

What's the best option here?

any tips from you pro's out there would be greatly appreciated....

"cheers"

KEV

Oh, BTW...if ya wanna listen to a couple of the tunes....here's

I hate to say it but whip out your check book and get ahold of someone like Blue Bear.............but I think he is closed because he is moving or something. There are plenty of others.

Frankly, in the long run you will be happier with the results, and you can spend your time doing what you want instead of beating the tunes into the ground again!

The extra set of Pro ears is worth the price! Especially since you already have nice material!!

I almost forgot!!!

I have been to your web page and spun a few of your tunes,

You ROCK!!!!!

Your tunes deserve the best you can get!

appreciate it!

hey man..i really appreciate your stuff...mainly because i can download it at work! haha...there is an mp3 filter here but nothing for streaming audio...but anyways..how do you record your stuff? what equipment do you use, etc?

Hi Muskgrve,

No secrets :)

I just use the M-Audio OMNI Studio w/Delta 66 audio card, the Line 6 POD 2.3...and Fender Strats.....

and yamaha, roland keyboards...

Plus I use the Yorkville YSM-1P active monitors - which I think are really great for the price (under $500 USD)....

and a lot of hard work :)

Each tune usually takes me approx 100+ hours, or so..

For some tunes I use REASON also for creating sounds. ,

Softeware = ACID 4.0 Pro, Sound Forge 6.0 & Cubase SX...ya don't need anything more than that - it covers everything.

"cheers" mate,

KEV
oh BTW - if ya like my tunes, how about leaving an online review - it always helps :)

Hi Kev,
After reading my first post I want to clear up what I am saying!

It's obvious from your sound that you put alot of work into your tunz. My point is that I don't think it would cost you all that much for a Pro mastering job since you have a quality mix to start with!
Also, the extra set of ears would be a great experience for something you have a ton of work into already.

I really like your stuff and don't want to leave you with the wrong impression on my advice!

Rock on!
:D
