i am using cubasis vst 4.0 and i am a little new to it. I cannot seem to find how to open the master unit program. is it a seperate thing? please reply . thanks

You need to read the manual that comes with it a bit. There is setup stuff in it that you want to check before you use it and no, there is no special master unit program. If you installed it properly you should be able to find the program under start/programs/Steinberg Cubasis VST/Cubasis VST or possibly somewhere similar.

mastering continued

i know how to use cubasis, but the manual talks about mastering the songs and creating a final track list to burn to Cd-R but it does not say how to open that window,

i guess to make it less words, how do i get into masterunit window ? thanksin advance

What do you mean by "masterunit?" You can access the mixer channel strip for the mains in the main mixer window. The master effects rack and master setup windows can be found in the Devices menu, I believe.

The reason is cubasis doesn't have a mastering window. What you're reading may be referring to the preferences in the dropdown window 'audio' where you can choose a wave editor that you can directly export and edit your wave files with. Cubasis does not have a wave editor but sometimes comes bundled with one e.g. wavelab lite.

i see

im starting to believe there isnt but in the manual they show a window and i can put it all to one track and burn it to cd-r, now how do i do that?

new topic/question

so lets just forget the whole master unit thing, could someoneexplain to me how to get songs to a cd on cubasis....since the manual says its done with master unit. thanks

Open up your vst channel mixer. Under the large letters "MASTER" on the right there will be an icon that says export audio. Click on that and it will ask you to name your file and choose where to put it. This will export your mix as a .wav file. You can then import that wave file into your cd burner program to make a cd.
