It's about the time of year to change my tubes and im thinking about MAYBE going for something different than the usual Svetlana 12ax7 replacement.

Any recommendations to enhance a Black Sabbath/godflesh-esque type of sound?

If you can afford Mullards, get a set. If not, my favorite ax7 and 6L6 are the JJ's, best prices I've found at eurotubes.com.

As you probably know messa valves groove tube etc are cheapo valves with company name stamped on...check out ebay there was loads of 12ax7's the uk equivalent is ecc83 or ecc81 cant remember but with that in mind you should get sorted...as mentioned in the previous reply mullards are a good tube and well priced.

to enhance a sabath sound you could try hacking off your finger tips and replacing them with plastic ones like tony allthough i would'nt recommend it I found aluminium to be far more resonant.
