The 2001 is not a favored mic, but with both shock mounts, some cables, and a case this is not a bad deal. An you can always get brave and do the Royer tube mod on the 2001. I would consider it.

Ive decided im going to do the Royer mod...ill let you guys know how it goes.

I'll be very interested in your findings...please let us know how it went.
A teacher of mine did the mod and he really likes the result. Its now its preffered mic for vocals.

Mojave is now recommending the ADK A-51 for the upgrade.....

In terms of the Marshall MXL Pro Pac, I've actually recommended to MXL that they package the MXL 2003 with the 603s instead of the 2001, which they already package in a bundle called the Recording Pak.

The 2003 definitely sounds better than the 2001, with a larger 27mm (1.06”) diaphragm capsule than the 2001. As far as I know, it's almost the exact same mic as their V77 tube mic which is significantly more expensive than the 2003 with similar sound characteristics. Here is a link to our listing on the 2003 for your reference:

Another mic line we have at MTLC that has made a lot of musicians very happy are the Rode mics from Australia. They also are very reasonably priced, and made very well.

I hope this information helps. Fortunately, there are a lot of great mics out there costing way less than they used to for good quality sound.

I've been pushing Wayne at Marshall to package the V67 or the V69ME with a matched pair of 603S's. That would be a killer combo.

Does the ME stand for Mercenary Edition;)

Yes, that would indeed be killer, maybe inspire someone to buy it.. That 2001 with a "free 603" is funny. What they should have said, overpriced 603 with free disposable 2001 LDC:D

Push Harder Harvey!

SoMm trying to be funny.

Can anyone tell me who does the mods. I don't have the know how to do this myself. I can admit when it's over my head.
Thanks

That would be way cool... a V67 w/matched pair of 603S's in a case with shock mounts and etc... that would be a prefect bundled package. Hey, I understand you had to send your V69's in for some repair... what ended up being the problem that caused the low gain? Thanks.

Hey, I understand your V69's crapped-out, and you had to send them in for repair... what ended up being the problem that caused the "low gain" problems you were having with them? Thanks.

Oh, and I think Marshall Electronic bundled their 603S's with their 2001's becuase the 2001's wern't moving, so they needed to unload the 2001's quick. The 2001/603S is not so good of a bundled package for the customer... but, a good attempt to save Marshall's butt. :)

8th street is selling a "stereo pair" of 603s with case and shock mounts but no V67. Still not $49 dollar range but not too bad.

If Marshall Electronic was planning on introducing a new microphone for lets say around Christmas time... I think hitting the market right now with a killer bundled microphone package that would blow their competitors minds and after getting everyone’s attention, introduce their new microphone in time for Christmas... but they better hurry up... lol.

A Killer Package like...
One MXLV67G with a matched pair of MXL603S’s along with stock holders, shock mounts, a nice aluminum case, and etc... for $199.99. Yeah, baby.

If they wanted to conquer the newbie mic market, they could toss in one of the MXL fox dynamics and a newbie mic applications booklet - use for each mic, positioning advice, a few good sites and forums to look into... I think for a complete package, the dynamic would round it out. And you can always use another mic, right?!?
