But I think my first instrument was keyboard, followed in quick succession by horn in F, French horn and alto saxophone.
Then in my teens I started playing Smoke on the Water in the wrong key on guitar. Eventually I almost got good until someone stuck me in front of a Peavey mixer-amp against my will. The tide slowly turned, helped along by the profusion of guitar players and the dearth of competent mixers. Becoming an above average guitar player would be a lot of work. Becoming an above average mixer was pretty easy, at least at the local level.
