eurythmics, sounds as if you are familiar with magix. is there anyway a bounced program, as in the boss dr 8, can come in in stereo, ie, to two tracs at once>? that is the hardest damn progrma to us and i think a big waste of $40-50 bucks. what is cool edit, is it easier, how much does it cost, and how inthe heck do you learn how to use magix, the book stinks the on line stinks. the little mixer board is cool, but i cant even get it to play my tracks, and i cant figure out how to record to two tracks, ie one for left and one for right. any way to have a chat with you. you sound very good at this stuff, and, i cant sit here night after night doing trail and error. thanks!!!

I'm a little familiar with Magix (it's been a while). I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll take a shot at it...

- Cool Edit is a .WAV editor used for recording and editing audio.
- Magix is used for looping audio together.

They're designed to do different things, so it's kinda like comparing apples to avacado's.

If you're trying to record into Magix, check the obvious first ...make sure you're using a stereo cord, and you're recording into the line-in of your sound card (mic in only records in mono, and it sucks anyway - always use line-in).

Second, make sure your recording properties are set to record a stereo track.

To be honest, I never use Magix for recording audio - I recorded my loops in an audio program, then brought them into Magix to work with the loops. I think Magix is a great program, and if you've already paid for it, give it a chance. Many people like Fruityloops or Acid better, but I stuck with Magix (I don't do much loop-based stuff anymore).

OK, I know everyone hates Magix. It has a pretty steep learning curve. But patience is well rewarded in this program. It has features that rival many programs that are 4 times the price.

Unless you are using Music Studio Deluxe (I use Generation 6) you can't bounce your tracks to a stereo pair in MIDI studio. If you have deluxe and are using MIDI studio and want to mix a bunch of mono and stereo tracks (audio and audio instrument VST only) to a stereo track, open the mixer and Click the BNCE button under the Master faders which brings up a format box for wav files (No BNCE in standard). Any MIDI tracks created in MIDI studio can be recorded in Audio Studio. Heres how. Open both programs (Both are included in Deluxe, not sure about Standard). Depending on your soundcard (Hopefully Full Duplex i.e. Record and playback simultaneously), you may have to physically bridge the line out and line in jacks on the back of your soundcard (I suggest using a stereo y-cable so you can keep your speakers. I use an external patch bay in my rack and monitor through my Mixer). Then press play in MIDI studio and record in Audio Studio (remember to set your input levels in the record option for audio studio.

Note:In MIDI Studio's mixer each channel strip can be assigned as Mono or Stereo by selecting the Icon next to the REC button on the Fader strip. So you can apply true stereo effects to a mono channel.

If you are having serious problems not hearing your sounds make sure you hardware is configured properly in the Audio options boxes in these programs. Including the monitoring options etc.

Please let me know if you want more specific instructions or what not. Hope this helps.
