I decided to use HP high gloss double sided paper to do the inserts and tray liners. Works pretty well and I can get away with cheap ink and reasonable print times. In fact they look better than the half gloss neato kits, and are 4 times cheaper.
There are still some things to work out. I'm going to have to come up with a good system for running these off without driving myself crazy. Each CD Set requires two sheets of paper, front and back. Printing takes about 5-10 minutes per side....and about 30 minutes to one hour to dry each side (actually I can do two liners at once so it's not quite that bad) Then I have to steal one of those paper cutter things because I can't cut a straight line with scissors...I can probably get one at work. Then I have to come up with a good way to fold the liners so they don't pop out.
I might have worked out a way to steal a printer identical to the one I'm using from work as well. That'll double-time things.
At any rate, CD's will start going out soon, but don't feel bad if you don't get yours for a while. Dragon gets the first one, plus the original masters. Then I'll probably go in order of payments starting with Doc.
These babies will be going on sale soon. Keep your eyes on this forum if you're interested! (remember, this comp CD contains very dated material....at least 2 years old, with some stuff submitted from way back.)
Also, when it comes time to order, please only do so if you really truely are interested. There are a limited number of these things and they'll never be worth anything 'cept a good memory or two. I'm absolutely not trying to discourage anyone, but if you're just passing through the BBS, don't buy one....so maybe I'm discouraging a small group of people.
If you love this place as much as I do, then buy away! (one per person)
They will be $20 + shipping. Yes that's steep but only out of fairness to everyone who pre-ordered at $20 each to get the project off the ground. All profits will go to the BBS so it's for a good cause!
