i made a pop filter out of a hoop and some stockings, so now how do i attatch it to the mic stand? a wire hanger seems to not be sturdy enough to hold it up,.

Hey there, what I did was go to Home Depot, and I found a cheap, $8 lamp with a base that has a clamp on it, like for the edge of a desk, and the lamp fixture screwed on the clamp. It's about 11 inches long, and that bendable conduit. I then just took the lamp part off, screwed it to the plastic hoop I have, and can clamp it to my mic stand wherever needed. Actually works pretty well.

well i always say, why get nady...when you can get shackrock?

ha.

DIY!

lol, ... yeah, i say if it works as well why not make it, it helps you hone in your crafting skillz and costs about a quarter of the price, , ... anyways, thanks for the advice on mounting it to my mic stand, i havent had a chance to go get one of the lamp fixtures yet but probably will today, ....

Apparently yours doesn't work as well or you wouldn't be here asking how to hook it to your stand now would ya?

well it will now, i mean, shit all i asked was how some of you mounted them, im sure i could have done it a million different ways and it would still work just the same,, advice is what this board is all about ,

alright, thought i'd just share how i ended up finishing off my pop filter,

supplies,

1.embroidery hoop.
2.stocking,
3.a small section of faucet hose extention,
4.some of those little thin strips of metal from the wal mart hobby section used for stuff like shaping flowers or making wreaths and whatever, not sure what to call it
5. black spray paint
6. black duct tape.
(i got all of this for about 11 dollars or less)

ok, the hoop and stocking part is obvious, .... then, to mount it to the mic stand i took the section of hose extention(i think it was about 11 inches or so), and to make it rigid enough to support the filter and to be able to bend to different shapes i stuffed the hose with all of the metal strips that came in the pack(it came with about 12 or so). that made it supportive yet flexible,... then i painted it black , and put a small strip of duck tape around it to hold it against the stand, ... looks almost exactly like one that railroad bazaar sells for 40 bucks,,..., works great,

I actually taped mine to the cieling, so it's hanging off a long piece of wood nailed to a rafter thing above me. haha. I have to retape it to the piece of wood if somebody short, then tall, comes back to back. haha.

Well maybe some people dont wanna order online or soemthing? I made one but i also own one. I attached it to the stand buy using a type of clamp lol....8-)

i just like to build things., my friend saw this and couldnt believe it was made out of the stuff i made it out of, it actually does look professional, i really impressed myself with this one.

I made one, and used "tie wraps" - little plastic strips that tighten but don't loosen.

Here's how I made mine.

I opened my wallet, paid $10 and attached it to a mic stand. Viola!

And it looks EXACTLY like the kinds you find in stores. :D

I don't understand it either. I'd rather spend $10 and not have a pop filter with panty hose and duct tape on it.

I just put the pantyhose and duct tape over the singers head

Good move timboZ, That's usually where most of the noise comes from.
Where did you find a pair of pantyhose that were BIG enough. You would need one of those "Oprah"- sized bastards...
