IM a mac user and i want to be able to put together some decent sounding drum loops and fills for reletively cheaply. Oh and while im on tha mic here i was wondering if anyone knows how to get some basic vocal affects like distorsion or chorus with a very basic setup.
Thanks

Soup, do you want a physical drum machine that plays drum tracks (Like the Boss Dr units or Alesis machine) or a software program? If you go with the actual drum machine it won't matter in the least what type of system or platform you have. If you want just programs and loops check out a few of the posts in boththe drum column and computer pages here. I am not sure what ones work with the mac.
As far as mic effects... what do you mean by basic setup? You mean outboard gear like rack processors or just a software proggy?

well as for the drum machine itr depends how pricy the physical ones go for. I would love to have one of those but am not sure if i could afford it being on a very low budget. But for the basic setup i mean i have a good mic going into a mixer into my soundcard. I have a guitar fuzpedal and a amp with chorus, reverb stuff like that but want to know what to invest in to get soem affects or how to use the ones i have.

Your reverb on your amp is probably a fixed reverb; can't model it or program it and you only have one or two choices.

You need a reverb box and there are many out there within a reasonable price range. Then, you can choose from many reverb rooms and edit any of those rooms to suit your ears.

I have an Ensonique DP-4 reverb box which has a zillion different things on it but one patch is called Nasty Harmony and it can create some interesting effects, as well as its alter-ego patch called, Sweet Harmony.

You will have to invest some $$$ if you want to get some "good stuff" down on tape or disc .
