Mackie 824hr, or Yamaha MSP10?

Well, I think its only gonna occupy one car-space. Im planning on just a 6x4 foot isolation booth, and just a small control area. Im not gonna be doing anything industrial yet so. And for drums I'll either use electronic drums, outside the booth, or just some drag and drop drums.
 
Well, Tylahboy, although I'm on dangerous ground, and I don't feel much in common with echoing Rip Rowan's opinions, I tested these monitors:
-Yamaha MSP5
-Roland DS-50
-Behringer Truth
-Spirit Absolute 2
-Genelec 1029a
-Genelec 1030a
-Genelec 1031a
-Dynaudio BM6P
-Dynaudio DM5P
-Mackie HR824

The Mackie beats 'em all. Very clear and rich mids, nice low end (although a tad slower than the way more expensive 1031a's) en non fatiguing highs (something that all Genelecs DO have).

After that, I did a smaller test, in a not so good environment, which included these monitors:
-Genelec 1030a's
-Genelec 1031's
-Event PS-5
-Event PS-8
-Tannoy Reveal PASSIVE

And dag nabit!, those Event PS-8's came pretty damn close to the way more expensive Genelec 1031a's
All Yamaha's seem to *suffer* from a over-present (high-)mid, so, although I haven't heard the MSP10's myself, I wouldn't bet my money on them, since the Mackie HR824's are around.

Oh, and forget the whole subwoofer thing, those HR824's will deliver PLENTY bass for a garage-alike studio...

As I said... definitely too small for far-fields or even mid-fields..........

15, building a hulla expensive home recording studio, in your parents 3 CAR garage, means, rich parents, spoiled kid, bad attitude. If you tell me your earning the money yourself you are lieing outright, im 18, i know what its like to work part/full time for extra money, and trust me, it doesn't add up.

But an observation is in order....

Tyler - you're doing much better here than when you first blundered onto the site, but you still have an attitude that doesn't jive with your level of recording skills/experience... you are a rookie and you have a long way to go before you get your ears.... but I guarantee you'll never get there at all with that attitude of yours.... your knowledge is about maybe a tenth of what you think it is -- you'd be wise to do MORE LISTENING and LESS SASSING........... seriously......!
 
well than tell ambi to stop telling me how much money i have, or can make.
 
I've generally tried to refrain on some of the BS floating around some of the tylerrecpro threads...But tyler, I must say, until you post some of your results in the mp3 clinic, like all the other experienced people here already have, you're just blowing smoke, and have a low level of credibility. Equipment is cool, but music made from it is even cooler. Let's hear some of your stuff...eh?

well its a fact that its impossible for a 15 year old to make enough money to buy all that equipment, even just one piece of that equipment such as the mackies. You couldn't have been working very long at your job, if you have a job, because companies, even fast food companies, don't usually hire under 16, some 15. So even if you worked part time for 6 months, thats not nearly enough. Just stating, i guess its non of my business. But your attitude kinda fits in with my predictions of your spoiledness. But whatever, i mean if my parents offered to buy me a recording studio i'd obviously accept it right? Just that attitude that follows getting anything you want, i have a friend like that.
