ok i have a windows based pc prety fast 2.8 quad intel atm but i have been told that the logic 8 for the mac would be the best for recording but the mac comes with well an unrelisic price tag the all in one option to mee seems slow and the mac pro well the standard is like £1750 or around there. so i wanna know what the benefits are to cubase in terms or of recording befor i shell out that cash and have both platforms running in my house.

I've been a PC user for a years, and had to deal with crashes and stupid windows stuff. So, I decided to make the change to Mac. Oh man, what a difference.

No more crashes. I had to throw away 3 hours of work on the PC one time, because I forgot to save and then.....CRASH. All that hard work down the drain. Mac is just so much more reliable.

Im Aware of there reliability im not contesting that i was more interested in there claim to seperior sound recording technology i will never compleatly get rid of the windows based pc due to the fact that im used to using it and just need a pc for reording guitar / vocals on and all that stuff and i heard mac is better at it than a pc

The same interfaces and converters are used on both Mac or PC. Also, Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase, Live, Reason, ect are all cross platform. There is no superior technology unless you want to believe that Apogee interfaces and Logic Studio are better than everything else on their own. And they're not.

ok more along the lines of what im interested in im not saying i believe there better just that i have heard via the slug trail that they are better for sound and photo how true that is i dont know i have nothing against mac other than they are a little pricy but other than that the diff between mac and pc well i leave it down to what you are used to. me im used to windows never had any issues with it but that is also down to how you use it i mean i used to work as a IT engeneer for 3 years and the times people have problems are usualy when they have so much crap installed it ruins the windows xperiance

yes mac is reliable i have no doubt my windows support XP is that they sell you software that is buged to say the least then try tell you that you have to pay them to advise you of a problem that could be the issue not garenteeng that its the problem. the sructure of the mac os is more stable as well as well ther components are not low grade crap like the run of the mill dell build and so on.

if anyone has used a pc and mac for sound recording that has noticed a vast latancy and ease of use the info would be much appreciated thanx.

and to the dell fans i ment the crapy home user ones they sell not the gamer ones i know they use good stuff in them so please dont attack me for mentioning dell was just the first brand i thought off

I used a PC (Compaq, HP, and Dell, all with XP) for several years before switching to a Mac. I can't say the Mac is really any better but I have found that a better interface made my recordings easier and (I think) better sounding. The Mac format is a little different and takes a bit of use to get acoustomed to. There are lots of people who will debate which is better, I say use whichever works for you. Reguardless of which you choose, a better interface (I prefer firewire) a good mixer, and a lot (1 gig minimum to help with latency issues) of ram will make any system better for recording.
